A Note from Kathy Baldwin:
First, I would like to thank Meredith Roy for putting the idea in my head to have a Dance-A-Thon for Cancer. I would also like to thank all of Joanna's family and friends for helping to make it all come true.
For the past 3 years and 4 months, I too haved lived with cancer. Mine being breast not colon cancer, but cancer is cancer, no matter where it decides to set up house.
Joanna was always a great friend to me no matter what, in good times and bad. For the last few years, she was the only person I felt for sure, knew what I was feeling. I miss her with all my heart as anyone who has known and loved her does. The day that her daughter Trilby and I went to get the name registered to start the process for the Dance-A-Thon, Trilby handed me a present and said, "we found this in the closet addressed to you". Inside was an adorable green frog pin and a card with Kathro written on it. That is what Joanna would sometimes call me. I opened the card and it said, "Kathy, This pin made me think of the joy that dancing can be and should be. Im sure that your heart will never forget. Keep in touch, Joanna". I'm sure she must have gotten it when I moved to Greenville, SC years ago and she forgot to give it to me then, but it felt to me like she was thanking me from heaven. Joanna, we all love you and all of our hearts will never forget. |
